"MoveArt Pilates Studio has been a lifelong creation of mine.
Being a passionate movement activist I love designing inspiring moves that I can share to enhance your individual goals to nourish your life!"
Movement has been at the heart of my life from an early age. Beginning with a love of art and dance, I developed a fascination with expression, creativity, and the remarkable ways in which the body communicates and adapts. This curiosity has guided a lifelong journey of exploration into movement, health, and human potential.
In the 1990s, I travelled to India to study Yoga with respected teachers, an experience that deepened my understanding of the connection between body, mind, and wellbeing. Since then, I have continued to explore a diverse range of movement disciplines, always seeking a deeper understanding of what helps people move, feel, and live better.
A significant turning point came through my own experience of a breathing disorder and chronic back pain. After trying numerous approaches in search of relief, I discovered that lasting change was not about finding a quick fix, but about learning to reconnect with and understand my own body. Pilates became an important part of that journey, transforming not only how I moved but also how I understood the body's remarkable capacity to heal, adapt and grow stronger and more adaptable.
Inspired by these experiences, I trained extensively integrating Pilates with Yoga and Qi Gong, and went on to become an internationally certified BASI™ Pilates Comprehensive Instructor, qualified to teach across the full Pilates repertoire, including all Pilates apparatus. The BASI™ method combines scientific principles with the art and individuality of movement, providing a framework that continues to underpin my teaching today.
My fascination with the body's interconnected nature led me to study the myofascial system, the vast web of connective tissue that links every part of us from head to toe. Through Slings Myofascial Training® now FAMO Fascia Movement, Anatomy Trains® Structural Integration and ongoing professional development, I developed a deeper appreciation for the relationship between movement, posture, tension, and overall wellbeing.
Along the way, I became increasingly interested in why so many people continue to experience pain, stiffness, and limitation despite seeking treatment. I discovered that many of us gradually lose awareness of and control over parts of our bodies, becoming caught in unconscious patterns of tension, protection, and bracing shaped by a lifetime of stress, injury, effort and experience.
This curiosity led me to train in Somatic Movement Education in the tradition of Thomas Hanna and qualify as a Clinical Somatic Movement Educator. Through gentle movement practices, I help clients restore awareness and control of their bodies, release chronic tension and habitual movement patterns, and rediscover greater ease, comfort, and mobility.
Today, I bring together Pilates, Somatics, Fascia Movement, Structural Integration, Yoga and decades of experience into an integrated approach that recognises every person as individual and unique. My work is guided by the belief that movement is more than exercise. It is a pathway to greater freedom, resilience, confidence and connection.
I created MoveArt Pilates Studio as a specialised space where people can practise moving with ease, achieve their individual goals, and develop a deeper connection with themselves and their community. Whether you are recovering from injury, managing pain, building strength, or simply wanting to move and feel better, I am committed to supporting you with knowledge, compassion, and practical tools to help free your tissues, reconnect with your body, and nourish your life.
And yes, we have fun along the way too!
